Wood Stoves

If your a traditionalist -- if you enjoy splitting cordwood, carrying it in from the cold to get in the mood, and poking the embers from time to time -- wood is definitely your choice. It's abundant, economical, friendly to the environment.

The expense of heating your home just keeps going up. Radiant and convective wood stoves give you even, penetrating heat that comfortably warms every room in your home for a fraction of what you'd pay for standard utilities.

Did you know an old, inefficient wood stove can generate as much as three pounds of pollutants into the air each day? Wood stoves are now E. P. A. certified and emit as little as 1.9 grams of particulates per hour, thus reducing pollutants by over 95 percent (95%). By using a certified wood stove, you're keeping the air in your neighborhood clean and breathable. And because wood is a renewable resource, wood stoves are so efficient they use substantially less wood than older stoves to get the same amount of heat output. Some wood stoves have the options of adding an outside air kit, which allows the stove to pull combustion air from outside rather than from inside the home. This prevents the stove from pulling in and removing the already heated room air for combustion and protects your indoor air quality.

Wood stoves provide reliable heat even during power outages and don't need blowers to operate. So you'll be warm and cozy no matter what's going on outside. Many models have cooking surfaces so you can warm soup or cider or fry bacon and eggs for breakfast.

Wood heat soothes and radiates. It's a difference you can feel.

  Gas Stoves

If that's too much-- and you'd like to just click a button and have flame leap into action, like your TV does -- here's the choice for you.  Nickos can install the gas line, venting and hearth.  You will quickly be enjoying the most carefree fire imaginable!

You'll be amazed at the realism of our gas fire.  Dancing yellow flames and glowing embers capture all the beauty of a real wood fire.  It's the most realistic gas fire.  So real, you'll be tempted to stir the embers and add more wood.  Why not have a little fun fooling your friends?

Gas stoves are listed as heater rated furnaces, with efficiencies exceeding 80 percent (80%).  Gas stoves provide radiant heat to the immediate area with the added benefit of a built-in convection chamber, which circulates room air around the appliance and returns it to your room as heat.  All stoves come equipped to burn natural gas or can easily be converted to propane.

Gas stoves feature direct vent technology and can be vented vertically or horizontally.  In many installations, gas stoves do not require any type of hearth pad, including wood flooring.  Gas stoves are approved for close clearances to the back wall without expensive heat shields.  This saves valuable floor space and eliminates the requirement of an expensive non-combustible wall protection.

Crafted from ceramic fibers or concrete to look like whatever kind of logs you'd use if you liked all the work -- from pine to oak -- you'll be amazed at how authentic they now look, right down to the glowing embers.

Pellet/Corn

If keeping a fire alive isn't your idea of pleasure, here's a clean-burning, environmentally sound option.  Sawdust otherwise destined for the landfill is compressed into uniform pellets sold in forty-pound bags.  Lug one in, fill the hopper in your stove about once a day, and your work is through.  Just sit back and enjoy as the pellets are fed automatically into the burning chambers at the rate needed ...
